Small Second Dwelling
Receive expert guidance on the feasibility of incorporating a small second dwelling on your property.
In many instances, obtaining a planning permit may not be necessary; however, a building permit is still required. From initial feasibility assessments to securing the building permit, we assist clients in realizing the vision of a second small dwelling, whether for close family proximity or as a rental property. Small second homes, up to 60 square meters, commonly referred to as granny flats, secondary dwellings, or accessory dwelling units, typically do not require a planning permit in most cases, provided there are no concerns related to flooding, environmental issues, or other special planning controls.
