Liquor License and Permits

Our expertise is dedicated to assisting you in obtaining all the required permits and licenses to operate a liquor business in Victoria.

The licensing process involves two key components: obtaining planning permits from relevant councils and applying for a license through the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation. We guide our clients throughout, ensuring they acquire all necessary certifications, such as the new entrant training certificate and Responsible Service of Alcohol Program.

We establish communication with the commission, furnishing all essential information to facilitate the acquisition of liquor licenses.

Redline Plan

We prepare a Redline Plan to define the area in which they want liquor to be supplied and consumed. This is shown by a red line drawn on a plan of the premises – a red line plan.

Written Assessment

A written assessment is mandatory when seeking a planning permit for liquor licenses. According to the Liquor Control Reform Act 1998, every license and BYO permit (excluding pre-retail, limited, and major event licenses) must adhere to the planning scheme applicable to the premises under the Planning and Environment Act 1987. The written assessment is tasked with addressing all necessary local and policy framework provisions, including Council planning controls such as an evaluation against clause 52.27.

Alcohol Management Plan

An Alcohol Management Plan (AMP) is a strategic framework businesses or event organisers implement to regulate alcohol-related activities. It encompasses measures such as staff training, age verification, limited service hours, and security provisions, aiming to promote responsible alcohol consumption and mitigate potential negative impacts on patrons and the community.

Patron Management Plan

The Patron Management Plan is a detailed document designed to articulate a venue’s operational strategies, prioritising effective management and mitigating potential impacts on the neighbouring residential area. It encompasses key elements such as emergency procedures, crowd control, and controlled access. The plan includes measures for staffing, regulating patron behaviour, promoting responsible off-site conduct, and addressing noise-related issues both on and off-site. Staff training, identification of noise-sensitive areas, and specific procedures for managing patron behaviour and handling complaints further contribute to the plan’s comprehensive approach to responsible venue operation.
